GRC 'Virtual' Supper Club Trilogy - Episode 1
Topic: The hedgehog and the fox - a GRC dichotomy!
Hypothesis: The dilemma between loss-averse attitudes & proactive risk management may now have a compelling solution. As Fintech / Regtech will soon be able to bridge this divide in an increasingly complex regulatory world.
Isaiah Berlin's essay 'The hedgehog and the fox' * was born out of a quote by greek poet Archilochus: 'The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing'. We are putting our own GRC spin on it :) GRC hedgehog's view the risk world through the lens of a single defining feature or idea. Knowing one thing in-depth and using it to his/her advantage (e.g. Plato). While, GRC foxes know many things [but not to the same depth] and draw on a variety of experiences. For them the risk world cannot be boiled down to a single feature or idea (e.g. Aristotle).
Our Evening Challenge:
Are you a GRC hedgehog or a fox? Mixed tables from across GRC work-streams will seek to prove or disprove the hypothesis. 3 x key speakers; 1 hedgehog; 1 fox; and 1 FinTech will help drive discussions. A skilled illustrator will also capture key points in a followup document. We hope that you will be able to join us for a fantastic evening of networking, learning and laughter!!
Evening Arrangements:
6:45 PM - Reception drinks
7:00 PM - Welcome and introduction drinks
7:30 PM - Dinner & speeches
9:30 PM - Coffee and discussion wrap-up
